Subsidy for underground car parks in the Canton of Basel-Country
Since 1 January 2026, the Basel-Country energy package (Energiepaket) has supported the basic installation, permanently connected to the building, for private charge points. The subsidy is CHF 500 per charge point, at most 50% of the investment cost and at most CHF 100,000 per application. The building must already exist and have at least three residential units. In addition, there must be at least three equipped parking spaces and load management. The wallboxes themselves are not part of the subsidy.
Application and timeline
The application must be submitted before installation starts. We put it together with you and only begin installing afterwards. If you settle the question early with the property management and the owners, you save time, because the owners’ decision and the application can be prepared in parallel. Before the quote, we will tell you about contributions from communes and energy suppliers.
Condominium ownership and rented properties
In condominium ownership (STWEG), the owners decide according to the Civil Code and their regulations. In rented properties, the landlord agrees. The load management that the canton requires shares the power between all spaces. More wallboxes can be added later, and billing is per user. The wallboxes are not part of the subsidised basic installation, so we show the two items separately in the quote.
During the site visit we record the parking spaces, the main distribution board and the cable route. This lets us judge, even before the application, whether at least three spaces can sensibly be equipped and how the load management needs to be set up. Planning and installation by our own installers are handled by us.
Grid operators in Basel-Country
EBL supplies 50 of the 86 communes, Primeo Netz 23 and BKW 8. The cantonal median is 32.0 ct./kWh, which is 4.3 centimes above the Swiss median of 27.7 ct./kWh. Before installation, we register the EV chargers with your grid operator, using the technical connection application (technisches Anschlussgesuch) and the installation notice (Installationsanzeige). The grid operator may set conditions on capacity and load management.

How high is the subsidy in the Canton of Basel-Country for charge points in an underground car park?

Must property management allow every tenant an EV charger?
There is no clear legal entitlement. In practice, many property managers agree if the tenant bears the cost and the solution suits the building. A shared solution for all parking spaces is usually cheaper than many individual installations.
Who decides on EV chargers in condominium ownership?
That depends on the regulations and the scope. Work on shared parts such as the supply line and distribution board usually needs a resolution of the owners' meeting. We provide the documents for the vote.
Is the house connection enough for several electric cars?
Often yes, if load management shares out the power. Then not all cars charge at full power at the same time. We calculate whether the connection is enough using the load data of your building.
