What businesses can expect from a solar system
A business has little time and many questions. Is it worthwhile? What does the system cost over its whole life? What happens when production stops? And who is responsible when something does not work?
We answer these questions before you decide. Not with a brochure, but with a site visit and a calculation based on your data. The site visit is free, and the binding quote arrives within 72 hours.
Return on investment, not a brochure
For businesses, the calculation is what counts in the end. A solar system replaces grid electricity that you would otherwise buy at the full tariff. The more electricity you use directly in the business, the shorter the payback. This is the most important lever, more important than the size of the system.
That is why we do not calculate with average values. We read out your load profile, meaning how your consumption develops over the day and the year, and size the system accordingly. This covers:
- Investment and possible subsidies
- Yield per year and share of self-consumption
- Savings compared with buying from the grid
- Maintenance and insurance
- Payback period
If a smaller system suits you better than the largest possible one, we will say so. For details on roof types, connection and subsidies, see solar systems for business.
Large roofs, high self-consumption
Halls, warehouses and production buildings usually have large, simple roof areas. On flat roofs, the modules are mounted on frames, often facing east and west. This spreads the power evenly over the day, which suits a business with working hours in the morning and the afternoon.
Before planning, we check the structure, the roof build-up, fire protection and the condition of the roof membrane. If a refurbishment is coming up, we plan the roof and the solar system together. Otherwise the system would later be taken down and put up again.
Peak loads and commercial storage
Many commercial tariffs include a demand charge. It is based on the highest power you draw in a month. A single peak when machines start up can determine the bill.
Solar power alone reduces these peaks only in part, because they do not always occur at midday. A commercial battery with a control system can cut them: it supplies power when the load rises and charges in quiet periods. Whether this pays off with your tariff, we calculate before you decide. For the basics, see battery storage.
Charging for fleets and visitors
Company vehicles are often parked at the site during the day or in the yard in the evening. With EV chargers they charge with solar power and use what the system produces. Load management shares the power between the vehicles so that the connection is not overloaded and no new peak occurs.
We clarify in advance how many vehicles charge and when, whether visitors should be able to charge, and how the electricity is billed.
What we check during the site visit
We come to your premises and look at what the system will have to carry later. On the roof, these are load-bearing capacity, build-up, penetrations and access. Inside, we check the main distribution board, connection capacity and space for the inverters. We also go through shift work, weekends and company holidays with you, because they determine when the solar power is needed.
With the load profile data, we then calculate several options: a system sized to the roof area, one sized to self-consumption and, if it pays off, one with a battery. You see what each option costs and what it brings.
Installation without interrupting operations
A business cannot stop for the installation. We agree the schedule, access, storage space and power interruptions with you in advance. Work that requires the power to be switched off is scheduled for off-peak times. Our own installers carry out the work, so that you have a fixed contact person.
Subsidies and taxes
The federal one-off payment (Einmalvergütung, EIV) from Pronovo also applies to commercial systems. Larger systems follow different rules from small ones, and we check the current position. Some cantons and communes (municipalities) pay in addition. Subsidies that we handle for you can be pre-financed on request. For the tax treatment of the investment, speak to your tax adviser.
Financing and owners
If you do not want to buy, we can on request look at financing or contracting as an option for your case. If you do not own the building, the owner has to agree. Here too we help to share the investment and the electricity supply.
How your project runs
- Enquiry: online or by phone.
- Site visit at your premises: roof, connection, load profile. Free.
- Quote in 72 hours: binding, with a profitability calculation.
- Notification and grid operator: we submit everything.
- Installation: our own installers, coordinated with your operations.

Our services for you
The free site visit
One appointment at your home. Then you know everything.
A project manager from our team visits you and checks three things. No sales show, no obligation. Afterwards you receive a binding quote with yield, subsidies and payback.
01Roof
Area, orientation, pitch, condition of the roof covering and shading.
02Electrical system
Grid connection, distribution board and space for inverter and battery.
03Your consumption
Electricity bill, car, heating, plans. From this we calculate yield and subsidies.

Frequently asked questions
Before you get in touch.
Is the site visit really free?
Yes. The visit and the quote cost you nothing and commit you to nothing. You only decide once you hold the binding quote in your hands.
Which documents do you need for a first assessment?
Ideally the load profile data for the last twelve months and your electricity bill. You get the data from your grid operator, and we help with the request. Roof plans too, if you have them.
What does a system cost for a business with 100 employees?
The number of employees says little. What matters is roof area, connection capacity and consumption. We only give a figure after the site visit, in a binding quote.
How does the system pay off when consumption varies?
We work with the load profile, not with annual consumption. That shows us when the solar power is needed and when it is not. If your workload fluctuates strongly, we look at a smaller system or a battery.
Can company vehicles charge with solar power?
Yes. An EV charger with load management charges preferably with power from your own roof and protects the connection from peaks. For fleets we plan around when the vehicles are at the site.
Who is liable for damage during installation?
We settle liability questions in writing before work starts. We also clarify with your cantonal building insurance what the system means for your insurance cover.
Is solar power worthwhile if we only rent the hall?
It can be, but it needs the owner's consent. We help to share the investment and the electricity supply fairly. You settle the contractual side with your legal adviser.
Which regions do you cover?
All of German-speaking Switzerland. We build most often in the cantons of Zurich, St. Gallen, Schwyz and Aargau. Our locations are in Zumikon ZH and Lachen SZ.
