EV charging for underground car parks in the Canton of Appenzell Innerrhoden
What applies to your car park in Appenzell Innerrhoden
No cantonal subsidy, clear requirements for the planning
We know of no cantonal subsidy for EV chargers in underground car parks in Appenzell Innerrhoden. The cantonal energy subsidy programme supports measures on buildings and renewable energy, but it does not mention charging infrastructure. Individual communes or the energy supplier may offer contributions, and we check this before the quote. If we find nothing, we calculate without a subsidy and tell you so.
House connection and cable routes
In smaller properties, the house connection often decides how many electric cars can charge at the same time. During the site visit we check the main distribution board, the cable routes to the car park and the available connection capacity. Load management shares the available power between the connected vehicles, so the connection is often enough for several spaces too. The quote then states how many charge points can run at the same time and what a later extension costs.
Owners’ association and landlord
In condominium ownership (STWEG), the owners decide according to the Civil Code and their regulations. Tenants need the landlord’s consent. We build the basic installation (backbone wiring) for all spaces once and add wallboxes when the need arises. Each charge point is metered separately, and users pay for what they use. The owners or the property management set the price per kilowatt hour.
Our planning principle is to build what is shared first and what is individual later. The supply cable, distribution and control are the same for all parties and are built once. Whoever has an electric car then installs their own wallbox, and the effort stays small for the other parties.
Grid operator
With its energy and water supply, the Feuerschaugemeinde Appenzell supplies four of the five communes at 27.6 ct./kWh. The cantonal median is also 27.6 ct./kWh, and the Swiss median is 27.7 ct./kWh. Our electrical installer registers the chargers with the grid operator under the Low-Voltage Installation Ordinance (NIV) before installation. We work with our own installers and plan everything through to commissioning, all from one source.

Frequently asked questions
Before you get in touch.
Is the site visit really free?
Yes. The visit and the quote cost you nothing and commit you to nothing. You only decide once you hold the binding quote in your hands.
Is there a subsidy for EV chargers in underground car parks in Appenzell Innerrhoden?
We know of no cantonal contribution. We check whether a commune or energy supplier offers anything, and otherwise we calculate without a subsidy.
Is the house connection in Appenzell Innerrhoden enough for several electric cars?
Often yes, if load management shares the power out. During the site visit we check the main distribution board and the cable routes, and we calculate the connection capacity available.
How does billing work in an underground car park in Appenzell Innerrhoden?
Each charge point is metered separately, and users pay for what they use. The owners or the property management set the price per kWh.
Must property management allow every tenant an EV charger?
There is no clear legal entitlement. In practice, many property managers agree if the tenant bears the cost and the solution suits the building. A shared solution for all parking spaces is usually cheaper than many individual installations.
Who decides on EV chargers in condominium ownership?
That depends on the regulations and the scope. Work on shared parts such as the supply line and distribution board usually needs a resolution of the owners' meeting. We provide the documents for the vote.
Is the house connection enough for several electric cars?
Often yes, if load management shares out the power. Then not all cars charge at full power at the same time. We calculate whether the connection is enough using the load data of your building.
Which regions do you cover?
All of German-speaking Switzerland. We build most often in the cantons of Zurich, St. Gallen, Schwyz and Aargau. Our locations are in Zumikon ZH and Lachen SZ.
