Commercial solar in the Canton of Uri

What applies to businesses with a solar system in the Canton of Uri

Subsidies and one-off payment

The federal government pays the one-off payment (Einmalvergütung) through Pronovo, graded by system size. In addition, the Canton of Uri subsidises photovoltaics for winter power in its Energie Uri 2026 programme (measure UR-06). The contribution is a flat CHF 1,000, and from 2 kWp a further CHF 250 per kWp. The conditions are a system on an existing building, connected to the grid, of at least 2 kWp, with modules tilted at 60 to 90 degrees. That suits the facades of halls, workshops and farm buildings. The complete application must be with the Office for Energy (Amt für Energie) before the modules are fitted. We prepare it and submit the applications for the federal government and the canton. For depreciation in business assets, your tax adviser can advise you.

Rules for businesses in the Canton of Uri

Under Art. 18a RPG, solar systems on roofs and facades in building and agricultural zones that are sufficiently well integrated need no building permit. In the Canton of Uri, you notify the system with the online form to the building authority of your commune. Systems that are not sufficiently well integrated, and systems on cultural and natural monuments of cantonal or national importance, need a building permit. Further rules apply to systems outside the building zone, which we clarify in advance with the canton.

For new buildings, requirements for solar or self-generated electricity may apply, depending on size and use. During planning we clarify which rule applies to your project. We give no information on duties for large consumers that we cannot back up.

Self-consumption and winter yield

In the valleys of Uri, mountain slopes shade the roofs in winter. Steeply mounted modules on the facade shift the yield towards winter, which is what the cantonal programme aims at. Snow and wind loads are part of how we check the roof and substructure. Where the electricity price is low, winter yield counts as well as self-consumption. We read out your load profile data and calculate both options, roof and facade, against your consumption. A battery storage unit can smooth out load peaks.

Frequently asked questions

Before you get in touch.

Your question is not listed?

044 980 08 80info@solarinnovation.ch
Is the site visit really free?

Yes. The visit and the quote cost you nothing and commit you to nothing. You only decide once you hold the binding quote in your hands.

How much does the Canton of Uri pay for a winter-power system on a business?

A flat CHF 1,000, and from 2 kWp a further CHF 250 per kWp (measure UR-06). The modules must be tilted at 60 to 90 degrees, which means mainly facade systems.

When must I submit the subsidy application for the system in the Canton of Uri?

The complete application must be with the Office for Energy (Amt für Energie) before the modules are fitted. We prepare it with you so that nothing lapses.

How do I register a commercial system in the Canton of Uri?

With the online form for notifying a solar system, sent to the building authority of your commune. Based on your details, the form shows whether a building application is needed after all. We fill it in before work starts.

How large a roof does a commercial system need?

A rule of thumb: each kWp needs around 5 to 6 m² of module area. Commercial systems often start at 30 kWp and go well beyond. We measure what fits on your roof at the site visit.

How high is self-consumption in a business?

That depends on the business. If you work during the day, you often use a large share of the solar power directly. Businesses with cooling, machinery or ventilation in the daytime usually do better than offices. We read out your load profile data for this.

Can a solar system reduce peak loads?

In part. Solar power peaks at midday, but demand peaks can also occur in the morning or evening. A commercial battery with controls can cut peaks. We calculate beforehand whether that brings anything under your tariff.

Which regions do you cover?

All of German-speaking Switzerland. We build most often in the cantons of Zurich, St. Gallen, Schwyz and Aargau. Our locations are in Zumikon ZH and Lachen SZ.
