Guide value, not a quote. Assumptions: 10,000 kWh yield, battery around 10 kWh, electricity price 27.7 ct./kWh excluding VAT. Deduct the feed-in tariff you would otherwise have received for this power. Whether a battery pays off, we calculate with your consumption. More in our guide How much does a solar system cost?

Battery storage in the Canton of Aargau
What applies to your battery storage in the Canton of Aargau
Subsidies for battery storage in the Canton of Aargau
The 2026 subsidy programme of the Canton of Aargau supports insulation, replacing your heating system and a bonus for photovoltaics on insulated roofs. We find no subsidy for battery storage in the programme conditions. Whether your commune or energy supplier supports batteries depends on where you live and keeps changing. We check this when preparing your quote and submit any possible applications before work starts.
Registration and fire protection
The battery is registered with the grid operator. In Aargau, AEW Energie supplies 70 communes. Others include Eniwa, IBB Strom and EWS Energie. The installation must be carried out by a licensed electrical installation company. The 2015 fire protection regulations of the VKF (Swiss association of cantonal fire insurers) do not explicitly cover battery storage. The state of the art is the paper on the VKF fire protection guideline for solar systems, which also clarifies where battery storage may be installed.
When a battery pays off in the Canton of Aargau
The cantonal median electricity price in Aargau is level with the Swiss median. A battery mainly pays off if you use little electricity during the day and a lot in the evening. This is often the case for families with a heat pump or an electric car. Aargau has many older single-family homes. When a roof is renovated, we plan the solar system and the battery together, so the electrical distribution only has to be adapted once. The feed-in tariff depends on the utility. In the quote we calculate with the tariff of your grid operator.
We size the battery with you based on your evening and night consumption. For single-family homes this is usually 8 to 15 kWh of usable capacity. We read your electricity bills and, if you have one, the data from your smart meter. A heat pump and an electric car are included in the sizing, so the battery is neither too small nor empty in winter.

Frequently asked questions
Before you get in touch.
Is the site visit really free?
Yes. The visit and the quote cost you nothing and commit you to nothing. You only decide once you hold the binding quote in your hands.
Does the Canton of Aargau subsidise battery storage?
We find no subsidy for battery storage in the 2026 cantonal programme. Communes and energy suppliers in Aargau may run their own programmes. We check this for your address.
Which grid operator receives the storage notification in Aargau?
The grid operator of your commune. In 70 communes this is AEW Energie, elsewhere it is, for example, Eniwa or IBB Strom. We register the battery and the solar system together.
Can I add a battery to an existing solar system in Aargau?
Yes, if the inverter is suitable. At the site visit we check the system and the location for the battery, and tell you whether an add-on or an inverter replacement is needed.
How large does the battery storage need to be?
As a rule of thumb, about 1 kWh of storage capacity per 1 kWp of solar output, usually 8 to 15 kWh for single-family homes. What matters is your consumption in the evening and at night. We read it from your electricity bills and calculate the right size.
Is a battery financially worthwhile?
That depends on the electricity price, the feed-in tariff of your grid operator and the price of the battery. The lower the feed-in tariff, the more each kilowatt-hour you use yourself is worth. In the quote, we calculate both options, with and without a battery, side by side.
How long does a battery last?
Modern lithium iron phosphate batteries are designed for several thousand charge cycles, which often means 10 to 15 years or more. Warranty terms differ by manufacturer. We state them in the quote.
Which regions do you cover?
All of German-speaking Switzerland. We build most often in the cantons of Zurich, St. Gallen, Schwyz and Aargau. Our locations are in Zumikon ZH and Lachen SZ.
